Overview

The front panel on the appliance displays appliance status information and can be used to set 
basic configuration parameters such as IP address and DHCP enable. It can also be used to 
run predefined scripts that are executed using the function (F1–F4) keys. 

Note that Front 

Panel Edit allows you to configure only a small subset of appliance configuration parameters.

 Use 

VBAdmin to access all configurable appliance parameters. The front panel has a 4 line x 20 
character LCD screen and various input buttons. During normal operation (in Status mode) 
the front panel LCD cycles through a series of informational messages. If for some reason 
you cannot access VBAdmin or the front panel, you can still set basic configuration options 
using the COM serial port or Telnet. See using the Command Line Interface more 
information.

Front Panel Modes

When you first power on the appliance, it runs through the power on self-test sequence 
during which a series of informational messages are displayed. When the self tests are 
complete (after a minute or two) the appliance is in Status mode and will display appropriate 
status messages on the LCD screen. At this point you can use the 

Mode

 button to cycle to 

Configuration mode or Function mode. As a visual cue, each mode has different backlighting.
