5.3 Start-up
5.3.1 Preliminary checks
Before starting the motor, check the following:
- The motor is correctly aligned, fastened and coupled (the belt tension is correct in the case of belt
transmission or the radial profile and tooth flank profile is adequate in the case of gear transmission).
- All the necessary measures are in place to prevent direct contact with moving or live parts.

Service conditions correspond to the information provided on the motor specifications plate.

The earth and equipotential connections have been made correctly.

The electrical connections are tightly bolted.

All the power cables and their respective shields are correctly connected.

The other cables (cables from the encoder and fan, etc.) are also correctly connected.

The frequency converter configuration guarantees that the maximum rotation speed shown on the motor
specifications plate will not be exceeded.

The machine cooling system operates correctly (rotation direction, rpm, etc.). Also check that the air inlet
and outlet are unblocked.

If there is a brake, check that it works correctly.

The motor is connected to operate in the correct rotation direction.

There is a correct reading of the motor safety devices (thermal sensors).
- The frequency converter is correctly configured: Check the drive configuration data with the
specifications plate and the technical datasheet.
