5.3 Connecting the product to the
electricity supply
Danger!
Risk of electric shock
There is a risk of electric shock
when working on electrical com-
ponents that are connected to
the low-voltage network.
▶
Disconnect the product from
the power supply.
▶
Secure the product against
being switched back on
again.
▶
Check that the product is
voltage-free.
▶
Only open the product when
it is voltage-free.
Danger!
Risk of electric shock
If there are faults or leaks, there
is a risk of electric shock.
▶
Earth the product.
▶
If a fault occurs, use the par-
tition that is installed on-
site (e.g. fuses or power
switches) to disconnect the
product from the power sup-
ply.
▶
In the event of a leak at the
unit, close the cold water
supply immediately.
1.
Ensure that the nominal mains voltage
complies with the specifications on the
data plate.
2.
Ensure that the cable for the house in-
stallation is connected to an electrical
partition with a contact gap of at least
3 mm (e.g. fuse or power switch).
3.
Use a line with suitable dimensions to
connect the product to the protective
conductor.
4.
Install line protection.

Condition
: Product with enclosed power supply
cable with plug

Connect the product via the mains
plug.
▶
Ensure that the mains plug is always
accessible after the installation.

VED H 4/3 AND VED H 6/3
Condition
: Product with enclosed power supply
cable and without plug for fixed connection

Connect the power supply cable to
the house installation.
Condition
: Potential alternative, fixed power supply
cable available in the installation room
▶
Disconnect the power supply cable from
the product.
▶
Ensure that the cross-section of the
power supply cable that is available on-
site is at least as large as that of the
supplied cable.
▶
Use a standard-conforming three-core
cable with a maximum cross-section of
3 x 6 mm

.
▶
Guide the power supply cable through
the product's grommet.
▶
For connecting the standard-conform-
ing three-core cable to the product's
power supply terminals, see the wiring
diagram.
5.
Make sure that the product is earthed.

6.1 Removing air pockets
Caution.
Risk of material damage
caused by dry fire
If the product is switched on
when it has been drained, the
heating coil may be damaged
by dry fire.
