Vacuum System Operation

and Maintenance Manual

Belt Removal

1. Turn off the truck chassis engine and remove the switch key from the ignition.

2. Remove the blower belt guards.

3. Loosen the four 5/8" bolts holding both ends of the turnbuckles.

4. Loosen the two 1" bolts holding the drive bearing weldment to the frame.

5. Loosen the jam nuts on both turnbuckles.

6. Using a chain or comealong, hook the drive bearing weldment to the boom frame.

7. Remove the two 5/8" bolts holding the turnbuckles to the truck subframe and swing out of the way.

8. Pull up on the chain or comealong taking all the tension off the drive belts.

9. Loosen the two 5/8" bolts holding the front pillow block jackshaft bearing to the drive bearing weldment.

10. Remove the two 5/8" bolts holding the rear jackshaft pillow block bearing to the drive bearing weldment.

NOTE:  

DO NOT

 remove the bearing from the jackshaft and 

DO NOT

 loosen the bearing adjustment bolts.

11. Slide the belts off the sheave and over the rear pillow block bearing.

12. Remove the two 5/8" bolts holding the blower pillow block bearing to the blower frame.

NOTE:  

DO NOT

 remove the bearing from the shaft and 

DO NOT

 loosen the bearing adjustment bolt.

13. Remove the grease line and the fitting from the top of the blower pillow block bearing housing.

14. Using a magnet, remove the pin under the fitting, which holds the bearing housing to the bearing.

15. Slide the bearing housing off the bearing.

NOTE:  Be sure to count the shims removed from under the bearing housing as the same shims 

MUST 

be

reinstalled.

16. Remove the drive belts from the blower sheaves and over the bearing.
