EC Directive 89/686/EEC and the harmonized European standards for the import or the production
of the aforementioned uvex safety helmet.
You can fi nd the following markings on the helmet:

Safety/maintenance/inspection:
Changes to the helmet shell or using incorrect interior impair
the safety functions of the uvex safety helmet. Check the helmet on a regular basis for noticeable
damage and ensure that the link between interior and helmet shell is correctly connected. Safety
helmets are defi nitely not allowed to be used after heavy blows or shocks have been absorbed as
well as when defects have been detected.
Storage:
Safety helmets are to be stored in dry places at room temperature, strong solar radiation
should be avoided (e.g. do not store the safety helmet on the rear hat shelf of a car)!
Cleaning:
All plastic parts can be cleaned using water and commercially available detergents.
Disinfecting:
The entire helmet can be disinfected with a mild, commercially available disinfect-
ant. In case of doubt, please contact uvex.
Ageing/Expiry date:
Every material, if steel, aluminium, plastic, etc. is subject to an ageing pro-
cess – also called signs of fatigue. Ageing is the degradation of mechanical properties, provoked
by mechanical wear-and-tear, environmental impact such as air pollution, chemicals or height-
ened exposure to UV rays. It is recommended, according to the current technological stand, that
one replaces helmets after 4–5 years (counting from the date of manufacture).
Transport:
The uvex original packaging or a moisture-repelling packaging is to be used as the
transport packaging and for storage. All uvex safety helmets have a type test certifi cate of a
licensed test centre.
