Uniden Atlantis 290/295 Radio Owner’s Manual

Setting the squelch level higher filters out noise and lets only

actual radio transmissions through.
To adjust the squelch level, press and hold

VOL/SQL

. The

screen displays

SQL

and a SQUELCH level number (0 - 3).

Press ▲ and ▼to adjust the squelch level. Press and hold

VOL/SQL

again to set the squelch level and return to the

main display.

Note: Setting the squelch level too high may prevent

you from hearing weaker transmissions. If you are

having difficulty hearing a transmission, try setting

the squelch level lower.

Set Key Lock

Press and hold

WX/LOCK

to lock the radio’s keys to prevent

accidental entry.

LOCK

displays when Key Lock is active.

Press and hold

WX/LOCK

again to unlock the keys.

Note: When Key Lock is active, only PTT, Boost, and

Power keys are operational.

Select Band Type

Press

BAND/MENU

to select the Marine/VHF or GMRS

band.
Press

WX/LOCK

to select the Weather band.

Change the Channel

Press ▲ or ▼briefly to scroll through the channels one

channel at a time. Press and hold ▲ or ▼to quickly scroll

through the channels.

Make a Transmission

Select the channel you want to transmit on, then press and

hold

PTT

. Release

PTT

when you’re finished talking to let

the other party respond.

To prevent stuck microphone problems or situations

where

PTT

is pushed accidentally, the radio limits your

talk time to 5 minutes in a single transmission.
