13. DAILY ROUTINE CLEANING
WARNING
All ash removal and cleaning should be done while the stove is
cold. Also the power cable should be disconnected and suitable
gloves and protec ve mask should be worn.
UNICA TERM GmbH assumes no responsibility in case rou ne cle-
aning is performed while the stove is on, the power cable plugged
in, or if no protec ve tools are used.
a) BURN GRATE CLEANING
Burn grate cleaning is crucial to the good performance of the stove;
it should be carried out every day before switching the stove on.
Extract the burn grate from its posi on. Remove any ashes and
combus on products with a screwdriver or a sharp tool (not inclu-
ded in the package) in order to free all the holes in the burn grate.
It is also recommendable to clean the burn grate suppor ng frame
with a small shovel or an ash aspirator in case there is any debris
on it.
Good burn grate cleaning guarantees a good combus on and as a
result an op mal stove performance.
b) ASH PAN AND COMBUSTION CHAMBER CLEANING
Ash pan and combus on chamber cleaning should be carried out
when the ash arrives at the pan edge level; the stove should not be
switched on if the ash exceeds this limit.
Daily, when performing burn grate cleaning, the level of ash in the
ash pan should be checked; it is important that this maintenance
opera on is carried out when the stove is cold, and that water is
never used to cool the ash down or clean the stove’s internal surfa-
ces. An ash aspirator may be used as long as the ash is completely
cold.
Pay extra a en on when the ash pan is re-inserted; it should be
properly
fi
ed in its original posi on, and there should be no com-
bus on products anywhere around it. If any ash is le on the ash
pan a er re-inser ng it, this could prevent the correct door closure
and result in an air leakage from the combus on chamber.
c) GLASS DOOR CLEANING
The glass door is self-cleaning, as a stream of air blows along the
glass surface while the stove is in opera on, thus taking the ash
away with it. Despite this, over me a layer of greyish debris may
form on it, and this should be cleaned at the earliest occasion.

some strong kitchen paper in hot water, dip it in ash and gently rub
the glass with it by taking care not to scratch the surface. Alterna-

it to work for a few minutes, then the glass can be cleaned with a
cloth or kitchen paper as normal.
No ce that low-quality pellets and a dirty burn grate cause a grea-
