One 10/100Mbps auto-negotiation Switch
One external power adapter
Multi-language Quick Start Guide
I. Introduction
This plug-and-play Switch offers a smooth migration to Fast
Ethernet network. 10/100Mbps auto-negotiation on all ports
adjusts to the speed of the attached devices and offers
higher-speed access to network peripherals. It is ideal for
cost-conscious businesses that need efficiency in their LAN.
Depending on your needs, Unex offers a choice of 5 and 8 port
Switches. Each of them carries a RJ45 port, allowing you to
connect up to 5 or 8 computers, hubs/Switches or network
device, that automatically corrects cabling errors.
(CROSS
OVER OR STRAIGHT THROUGH)
The LED lamps on the front panel give you an overview of the
status and speed of the individual outlets. Compared with a
hub, where all PCs share a bandwidth, a switch’s bandwidth
will never deplete. With the Switch, the network is subdivided
into segments where each segment has its own bandwidth. A
NIC card that supports full duplex mode can increase the
speed between the Switch and the network card by up to
200Mbps.
II. Hardware Introduction
PWR
: Green indicates that Switch is turned on.
10/100M
: (Port1~Port5/8) If the LED is yellow, the port is
operating in Ethernet mode, with data being transmitted at
10Mbps. If the LED is green, the port is operating in Fast
Ethernet mode, with data being transmitted at 100Mbps.
LED
: (Port 1~Port 5/8) A flashing LED indicates that data is
being transmitted across the port. A steadily glowing LED
signifies that there is a link between the port and the device
connected to it. If the LED is off, nothing is connected to the
port.
III. Connecting the Switch to your computers or another
Hub/Switch
1.
Insert one end of an Ethernet cable into one of the
numbered ports (1x–5x/8x) on the back of the Switch.
2.
Insert the other end of the Ethernet cable into the
Ethernet port of the network adapter installed in the
computer or another Hub/Switch that you want to
cascade.
3.
Turn on the Switch, and then turn on the
computers/devices in your network. The Switch will
automatically recognize all network peripherals in your
network.
Note: With Auto-MDI/MDIX functions, users do not have to
worry about cable type (straight through/crossover).
