• Switch on the unit by pressing the Start/Stop but-
ton. The full display appears (Figure 1).
The device is designed for two users. The values for the two users are
stored separately and can also be evaluated separately.
You may also use the two user memories to evaluate measurements
taken in morning and those taken in the evening separately. To do
this, carry out the measurement in the morning using user 1 and in the
evening using user 2.
Before taking the measurement, check that the correct user is dis-
played.
Now carry out the measurement.
To change the user, press and hold the START/STOP button until the
display for the desired user number flashes on the screen. Press the
MEMORY button to switch between User 1 and User 2. Confirm the en-
try by pressing the START/STOP button.
• After the device has completed its calibration
against the ambient air pressure, the automatical-
ly controlled inflation process starts. The cuff is in-
flated to the pressure required for measurement.

• The actual measurement takes place with the start
of deflation (Figure 3). The symbol in the display
flashes until the pulse frequency is displayed.
• Shortly after the inflation procedure begins, a
check is carried out to ensure that the cuff has
not been applied too loosely. If the cuff is applied
correctly, the symbol is displayed (Figure 2). If
the symbol is not displayed by the time the pulse
signal starts, the cuff is too loose. In this case, you

diastole and pulse values are shown on the display

should repeat the measurement after you have ap-
plied the cuff correctly (see page 42).
Movements during the measurement may result in incorrect measure-
ment values. The motion control registers stronger movements and
these are indicated by the symbol in the display. Other disruptive
factors such as speaking, coughing or cuff noises can cause the symbol
to be displayed. If this symbol appears, please repeat the measure-
ment and avoid the disruptive factors.

• The device switches itself off after approximately
3 minutes. You can also switch the device off be-
fore this by pressing the Start/Stop button.

The device will classify the measured blood pressure value in accord-
ance with the guidelines of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and
the International Society of Hypertension (ISH) of 1999. By looking at
the bars on the display, you will be able to read the classification taken
after every measurement.
