zontal Sidewall Sprinklers described
herein must be installed and main-
tained in compliance with this docu-
ment, as well as with the applicable
standards of the National Fire Protec-
tion Association, in addition to the
standards of any other authorities
having jurisdiction. Failure to do so
may impair the integrity of these de-
vices.
The owner is responsible for main-
taining their fire protection system
and devices in proper operating con-
dition. The installing contractor or
manufacturer should be contacted
relative to any questions.
TECHNICAL DATA
The Model G102, 5.6 K-Factor, Institu-
tional Horizontal Sidewall Sprinklers
are rated for use at a maximum service
pressure of 175 psi (12,1 bar). They
are
available
in
135°F/57°C,
155°F/68°C,
175°F/79°C,
and
200°F/93°C temperature ratings. The
sprinkler (Ref. Fig. A) and escutcheon
plate options (Ref. Fig. B) are provided
chrome plated.
To assist with horizontal adjustment,
Model 1752 Spacers (Ref. Fig. B) can
be separately ordered for use with the
Type B1 or D Escutcheons.
The flow “Q” in GPM (LPM) is deter-
mined by the following formula:
where the nominal sprinkler discharge
coefficient “K” equals 5.6 (80,7) and
“p” equals the residual flowing pres-
sure in psi (bar).
The Model G102 utilizes a 2.5 mm
frangible glass bulb. The Body is brass,
and the Deflector is copper. The De-
flector Hood is bronze, and the Deflec-
tor Posts, Deflector Post Pins, and
Lever are phosphor bronze. The Com-
pression Screw is phosphor bronze,
and the Release Spring is commercial
bronze. The O-Ring Retainer is brass,
the O-Ring is silicone, and the Bulb
Insert is phosphor bronze. The Dust
Cover is chrome plated strip steel.
DESIGN CRITERIA
The 5.6 K-Factor, Model G102 Institu-
tional Horizontal Sidewall Sprinklers
are intended for use with fire protection
systems designed in accordance with
the standard installation rules recog-
nized by the applicable Listing or Ap-
proval agency (e.g., UL Listing is
based on NFPA 13 requirements). The
