Set the Reel Drive Brake.

Return the Reel Drive Directional Control Lever to the ‘CENTER’ position.

Reduce Engine Speed to idle for 3-5 minutes before stopping Engine.
NOTE: IMMEDIATELY AFTER A PULL IS ONE OF THE BEST TIMES TO CHECK THE UNIT FOR
WATER, OIL, OR HYDRAULIC FLUID LEAKS.
C. TENSIONING WITH BULLWHEEL
The unit can be used to create Tension in the Line as the ReelWinder at the other end of the operation
pulls the Line back. Tension according to the following procedures: Perform pre-start checks.
a. Preset
pressure.
b.
Set Engine Speed at Maximum RPM.
c.
Switch the Levelwind mode selector switch to ‘AUTOMATIC’ position.
d.
Release the ReelWinder Brake.
e.
Move the ReelWinder Direction Control Lever slightly to the ‘PULL IN’ direction. When all slack
in the Line between the Reel and Bullwheel is removed, move the Reel Drive Directional Control
Lever into the “TENSION” position.
f.
Release Bullwheel Brake and simultaneously move the Bullwheel Directional Control Lever into
the ‘TENSION’ position.
g.
Instruct the Puller operator that you are ready for him to start the Pull.
h.
As the conductor begins to move through the bullwheel, regulate the line tension of the
conductor by using the Bullwheel Linepull Control. Clockwise adjustment will increase the
tension; counterclockwise adjustment will decrease the tension. If the conductor starts to slip in
the bullwheel it may be necessary to increase the pressure in the Reelwinder Linepull Control.
Clockwise adjustment will increase the tension; counterclockwise adjustment will decrease the
tension.
D. STOPPING AFTER TENSIONING
a.
Instruct the Puller operator to stop first.
b.
When the conductor and the bullwheel has stopped moving, set both the Bullwheel and the
Reelwinder Brakes into the ‘APPLY’ position and move both of the Directional controls to the
‘NEUTRAL’
position.
c.
Reduce the Engine speed to idle for several minutes before stopping.
