5 Troubleshooting
Problem

Cables not connected
properly.
Check if the Televiewer has
been connected properly.
See chapter 3 for the

No picture.
TV not set properly.
Check if the TV has the
correct video setting.
No image via
Notebook.
External VGA is not
switched on.
Switch on the external VGA
in on the Notebook.
Resolution and refresh
rate of computer too high.
The Televiewer supports a
resolution up to 1600x1200
with 80Hz maximum. For
optimum image quality we
recommend not to exceed
1280x1024 with 100Hz.
Image setting of TV set
are not correct.
Set brightness and contrast
of the TV set.
TV image is not
good.
PAL / NTSC settings of
the TV set are not
correct.
If your TV set supports
various standards, set your
TV set on PAL standard.
Consult the manual of your
TV set.
VGA connection of
Televiewer cannot
be connected to
Mac or NEC system.
Mac an NEC systems
used different type of
connection for VGA than
IBM compatible PCs.
Use VGA converter plugs for
the VGA connection (not
provided).
Because of system box
or because a Mac system
is used, the plugs do not
fit.
Use the provided PS/2 to
USB converter plug in order
to connect PS/2 plug of the
supply cable to a free USB
port.
DIN or PS/2 plugs
for connection
power supply does
not fit.
No free keyboard
connection or USB port in
the system.
Use an external 12VDC /
700mA supply adapter for
the Televiewer (not
provided). See product label
at bottom of Televiewer for
the polarity of the
connecting plug.
TV flickers when
switching to
another resolution.
Televiewer needs a few
seconds to adjust to the
new resolution.
Wait a few seconds for the
image to adjust.
Televiewer has no
on/off button.
Cannot switch
Televiewer off
Televiewer has a built-in
‘power-saving’ function
for minimum power
consumption.
When you switch your
system off, the ‘power-
saving’ function is
automatically activated. The
VGA LED is off.
