MAINTENANCE
WARNING:
To prevent serious injury, never perform
maintenance on the unit while it is running. Always remove
the battery to prevent the unit from starting accidentally.
Always allow the unit to cool before maintaining the unit.
Before maintaining the battery charger, always unplug it
from the power outlet.
MAINTAINING THE BATTERY CHARGER
•
Keep the battery charger clean and clear of debris. Do not allow
foreign material into the charging dock or onto the terminals (Fig.
9). Inspect the battery charger for foreign material before each use.
•
Make sure the charger has not been shorted by debris. Inspect
the terminals for soot and signs of melting. Do not attempt to
use a shorted charger.

LUBRICATING THE BLADES
For easier operation and longer blade life, lubricate the blades
BEFORE
and
AFTER
each use. Never lubricate the blades while the
motor is running or the blades are moving.
1. Stop the motor, wait for all moving parts to stop, remove the
battery, and allow the unit to cool.
2. Turn the unit upside down (Fig. 10).
3. Apply a light machine oil down the center of the lower blade
(Fig. 10). Apply oil along the full length of the blade.
MAINTAINING THE BLADES
The cutting blades are made of high-quality, hardened steel. During
normal use, they will not require resharpening unless they become
nicked by contact with hard objects, such as wire fencing, glass,
stones or bricks.
If a nick occurs and it interferes with operation:
1. Stop the motor, wait for all moving parts to stop, remove the
battery, and allow the unit to cool.
2. Use a fine-toothed file or sharpening stone to remove the nick.
