CONTROLS AND INDICATORS 

FRONT PANEL 

V E R T I C A L  A X I S  C O N T R O L 

( D V O L T S / D I V 

V e r t i c a l  a t t e n u a t o r  f o r  c h a n n e l  1 ;  p r o v i d e s  s t e p 

a d j u s t m e n t of vertical sensitivity.  W h e n the  V A R I A B L E 
control is  t u r n e d  t o the  C A L position, the vertical sensitivity 
is calibrated in 10 steps  f r o m  5 V / d i v to 5  m V / d i v . For X-Y 

operation this control provides step  a d j u s t m e n t of vertical 
sensitivity. 

(2)  V A R I A B L E 

Fine  a d j u s t m e n t control CH1 vertical attenuation. This 

control provides  c o n t i n u o u s  a d j u s t m e n t  b e t w e e n the 
V O L T S / D I V ranges.  W h e n set to its  e x t r e m e clockwise 
(CAL) position,  t h e attenuator is calibrated. For X-Y 
operation, this control serves as the Y-axis  a t t e n u a t i o n fine 
adjustment.  A s this fine adjuster uses a variable resistor 

w i t h a center  t a p , the  a m p l i t u d e  s o m e t i m e s does not 
change during rotation. 

(3) $  P O S I T I O N / P U L L  X 5  G A I N 

This is a  p o t e n t i o m e t e r control  w i t h an  a d d e d  s w i t c h 
f u n c t i o n . It serves as  t h e  C H 1 vertical position control for 

normal operation  a n d X-Y operation as  w e l l .  W h e n pulled 

out, the  V O L T S / D I V setting is multiplied by 5  a n d for X-Y 
operation the Y-axis sensitivity is  m u l t i p l i e d accordingly.

  G A I N  m o d e , the vertical gain is increased and the 

trace  b e c o m e s thickness. 

(4)  U N C A L 

This LED lights  t o indicate that CH1 is not calibrated, i.e., 
t h a t the  V A R I A B L E control is not in the  C A L position. 

(5)  P U L L  X 5  G A I N 

This LED lights to indicate that the CH1 $ POSITION 
control is in the pulled out position, i.e. that the CH1 

sensitivity is five  t i m e s the  V O L T S / D I V setting. 

(6)  A C - G N D - D C 

This  s w i t c h is  t h e  C H 1 vertical axis  c o u p l i n g  m o d e 

selector, for X-Y operation, the Y-axis coupling  m o d e 
control. 

A C :  A C input coupling,  w i t h blocking of any DC signal 

c o m p o n e n t . 

G N D : Vertical amplifier is disconnected  f r o m  t h e input 

signal and  c o n n e c t e d to ground. This  m o d e is 
useful in  d e t e r m i n i n g the actual  g r o u n d potential. 

DC: DC coupling,  w i t h both the DC and  A C  c o m p o n e n t s 

of the input signal displayed on the CRT. 

(7)  P U S H 5012 

This control selects the  C H 1 input resistance  b e t w e e n 

50i2 and 1  M f i . In the depressed position the input 
resistance is 5012. 

I — C A U T I I O N : 

In the

 50Q

 input  m o d e , the  m a x i m u m input voltage is 

5 V r m s or DC  ± 5 V . Care should be taken not to exceed 

this level as  d a m a g e  t o the  C S - 2 1 0 0 A could result.
