Cleaning Your Deep Fryer

Cleaning should be carried out when the fryer is unplugged from the mains. The fryer and the
oil should be completely cool. When cleaning, avoid the use of abrasive cleaning materials as
these may damage the appliance surfaces.

Remove the basket from the fryer.

•

Remove the lid, and remove the filter from the

grease trap. For guidance on removing and repositioning these items see P7.

Remove the filter before cleaning the lid.

•

Rremove the grease trap cover. Refer to

Page 4. Remove the filter and check its condition. The filter can be used about fifty times
before replacement depending on the nature of the food and the cooking period.

Cleaning the basket:

•

The basket and handle should be washed in warm soppy water,

rinsed and dried.

Cleaning the lid:

•

The appliance lid and the cover of the grease trap should also be

washed in warm soppy water, rinsed and dried.

Cleaning the Oil Tank:

•

Ensure the appliance is fully cool, the lid has been removed

and the unit is unplugged. Carefully lift and tilt the appliance to the left and pour the
oil off into a suitable receptacle from the left rear corner. (If you are lefthanded use the
right corner.) Pour warm soapy water into the tank and wash it well. Rinse in fresh
water and allow to dry.

If you intend to re-use the oil:

•

filter it well.

If you are using solid fat:

•

Remove the basket before the fat has cooled. Remove as

much of the cooled fat as possible with a plastic spatula before washing the tank.
Ensure the washing water is hot enough to remove all traces of fat from the tank.

When washing the oil tank ensure you do not damage the interior surface.

•

Wipe the body of the fryer with a damp cloth and dry well.

•

Never immerse the fryer body in any liquid.

•

When all the components are cleaned and dried:

Re-assemble the fryer. Remember to replace the filter.

•

Storage

Storing the oil

You may store filtered, cooled oil in the fryer.

•

Carefully pour the cooled oil into a large container .

•

Ensure the oil tank is clean and dry.

•

Place a paper filter in the Basket. Place the Basket in the raised position

•

Slowly pour the cool, used oil through the filter into the fryer. Discard the filter.

•

Remove the basket, wash and store separately..

•

Replace the Lid and store the fryer in a cool location.

•

If you fry infrequently, store the used oil in a covered container in a cool dark place.

•

Solid fat must not be stored in the fryer!

•

Storing the Fryer

Re-assemble the fryer after cleaning.

•

If you store the oil separately:

•

Remove the basket handle. Place the handle in the

basket. Place the basket in the fryer and close the lid.

If you store the fryer with oil in the tank:

•

Store it with the basket removed and the

lid closed. Ensure the fryer is securely stored in a cupboard or other covered storage area
where the oil is unlikely to spill or get contaminated.

Making Replacement Filters

You may make your own filters very easily. You will need a plain filter sheet available from
kitchen accessory stores. Place a sheet of paper in the filter recess and draw around the inside
to make a template. Cut out the template with a pair of sharp scissors and make the filter
from the template.
Fit the new filter as previously described.
