Fueling
To fuel up open the front hood [Fig. 39, page 12], remove the lid of the fuel tank [Fig. 40, page 12] and
fill it up. Remember to use good quality gas.
Air filter
The air filter must be kept clean to ensure that the engine will run well. Air filter obstructions due to dirt
cause serious engine problems amongst which are loss of power and damage to cylinders, pistons and
rings. To clean the filter pass a light compressed air inside-outwards from the filter or tapping its base
lightly against a flat surface.
Adjusting the cutter assembly belt
To adjust the belt play, loosen the belt-tensioner bolts (1 and 2). Fit the “L” spanner into the gap and
push the tensioner against the belt. Then tighten the belt-tensioner bolts. The play should be 20 to 30 mm
[Fig. 41, page 13].
Blade
To remove the blade for necessary repair, fit a spanner onto the fitting bolt and turn it anticlockwise
[Fig. 42, page 13].
After strong impact with an obstacle, the blade should always be removed and carefully examined. If
necessary, replace it with a new one. If a new sound is heard, take the equipment to an Authorised
Service provider.
Check the blade balance by putting a shaft through the centre hole with as little gap as possible.
Support the ends of the shaft on two level supports: if the blade is unbalanced the heavier side will drop
[Fig. 43, page 13].
To balance both sides, grind or file the heavier part opposite the blade and repeat the balance test
[Fig. 44, page 13].
When reassembling the parts, check they are correctly fitted and that the blade holes fit onto the blade
support lugs.
Prevent accumulation of grass below the cutting assembly. Clean the equipment after use with a brush
or damp cloth. Never pour water over the equipment.
Front axle and cardan drive lubrication
Use a grease gun to grease the front [Fig. 45, page 13] and cardan drive grease points [Fig. 46, page 13].
Battery
The battery is charged by the engine alternator. Should the equipment remain unused for a long time it
could run down, which would make starting the engine difficult. Recharge the battery with automotive
battery chargers. To check the battery open the front hood [Fig. 47, page 14]. It is right in front of the fuel tank
[Fig. 48, page 14].
Replacing the battery
1.
Loosen the nut and bolt on the battery terminal using a 13 mm wrench [Fig. 49, page 14].
2.
Disconnect the clamps from the battery terminals.
3.
Remove the front bumper screws using the 10 mm nut driver as shown in [Fig. 50, page 14].
