SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
▪
Electrical connection mono-speed/bi-speed with a three-phase network (1 earth connection and 3
phases). Respect the instructions of the motor manufacturer (see manufactured instructions).
▪
Straps: different types, positioning and changing (see instructions for use).
▪
Never turn over a non-equilibrated load (the load and the PalTurn
TM
must be perfectly horizontal during
lifting). Load imbalance sensor provided as option (see instructions for use).
▪
Length of the load depending on the PalTurn™: the load turner straps must be uniformly distributed on
the load length and depending on the load geometry (see next chapter).
▪
Adjustable model:
□
Set up the straps position according to the lifted load length (see Figure 1).
□
Always check that the pulley indexing is well-latched in the driving key hole.
▪
When in continuous use, the rotation can cause the load to move horizontally and therefore a risk that
the load could slide out and fall.
▪
Applications with a single load turner: the hook of the hoisting device must be situated above the center
of gravity: load perfectly horizontal under the load turner before the rotation starting.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Checks of the turned over load
▪
In case of a simultaneous turn over with several loads, it is imperative to lock them together.
▪
Check before the turn over that the load type and the straps choice are compatible (sharp edges,
abrasion…).
▪
Check that the load characteristics can stand the stresses generated by the turn over (compressive
stress on the straps, pressure on the load edges…).
▪
Check that the load is
rigid enough
not to deform itself in the straps – stiffen if necessary.
▪
Check the load temperature (max. temperature: 60°C – beyond contact Tractel Solutions).
▪
The load must have a
minimal weight of 20%
of the device WLL. Below this value, straps or pulleys
may slip.
▪
Always make the turn at the lower possible height, so as to avoid touching the ground or any obstacle
during turning but with no excess height to be able to lay the load quickly in case of problem.
▪
Always make the turn in a clear area
Straps
Please refer to specific use instructions of the straps for more details.
PalTurn™ functions with flat coated textile straps.
The choice of the strap’s length and type and its constitution material is made according to:
▪
the load: material, weight, circumference,
▪
set-up and use conditions,
▪
the respect of ½ sling angle
(α)
included between 0 and 45°
The straps are tailor-made, depending on the imperatives of each use.
Instructions for use
The straps must not be used where there are traces of oil, water or any other liquid on the
polyurethane.
Users have to regularly check for the correct condition of straps:
▪
the textile strap must not be damaged,
▪
the straps seams must be in good condition,
▪
the polyurethane covering must cover all the length of the strap,
▪
the opening system for opening straps must not be damaged…
Do not apply degreasing products on the straps’ polyurethane (deterioration risks).
When needed, use white vinegar to degrease the straps
Coated straps are more resistant to sharp edges, i.e. surfaces neither plane nor rounded.
However, straps do not resist to cutting edges (grind or protect any edge with radius below 2 mm). Avoid
passing over any hole or pin.
It is necessary to avoid any slipping of the load when passing over sharp edges.
