1. General warning
1. Before using an AS anchor ring, it is essential, for
its safety and effectiveness, to be aware of this
manual and comply with its requirements.
2. Before use, it is essential that users are trained
in the use of this safety device. Check the status
of associated equipment (harnesses, connectors)
and make sure that the clearance is suffi cient.
3. The AS anchor ring may only be used by one
trained and competent user or by an operator
under the supervision of such a person.
4. If the AS anchor ring is not in apparent good
condition or if it has been used to arrest a fall, all
the equipment concerned must be checked by
Tractel SAS or by an authorised and competent
technician, who should authorise its return to use
in writing.
5. A visual inspection is compulsory before each use.
6. Any modifi cation or attachment made to the
equipment cannot be done without prior written
approval from TRACTEL SAS. The equipment
must be transported and stored in its original
packaging.
7. Any AS anchor rings that have not been subject to
periodic inspection during the last twelve months
or that have arrested a fall, should not be used.
They must be destroyed or examined by an
authorised and competent technician who should
authorise its return to use in writing.
8. The maximum operating load for the AS anchor
ring is 150 kg.
9. If the weight of the operator increased by the
weight of their equipment and tools is between
100 kg and 150 kg, you must ensure that the
total weight (operator, equipment + tools) does
not exceed the maximum load of each of the
components of the fall-arrest system.
10. This device is suitable for use on an open air site
and for a temperature range of -35°C to +60°C.
Avoid any contact with sharp edges, rough
surfaces and chemical substances.
11. IMPORTANT: If you are responsible for assigning
the equipment to an employee or similar person,
ensure that you comply with the applicable health
and safety at work regulations.
12. The operator must be physically and mentally
fi t when using this equipment. In case of doubt,
check with one’s private doctor or with the works
doctor. It is forbidden for use by pregnant women.
13. The equipment should not be used beyond its
limits or in any other situation other than what
it has been designed for (cf. “4. Functions and
Description”).
14. It is recommended to assign an AS anchoring ring
personally to each operator, especially if they are
salaried employees.
15. Before using an EN 363 fall-arrest system, the
user must ensure that each component is in good
working order: security system and locks. During
installation, there must be no deterioration of
safety functions.
16. It is essential for the safety of the operator that the
device or anchoring point is correctly positioned
and that work is carried out so as to minimise the
risk of falls from height.
17. A fall-arrest harness is the only body-gripping
device that is permitted for use in a fall-arrester
system.
18. In a fall-arrest system it is essential to check the
free space under the operator on the work location
before each use, so that in the event of a fall there
is no risk of collision with the ground or with any
obstacle in the path of the fall.
19. For the safety of the operator, if the equipment is
sold outside the fi rst country of destination, the
dealer should supply: an instructions manual,
instructions for maintenance, for periodical
inspections and repairs, all compiled in the
language of the country of use.
20. It is essential for the safety of the operator, that
the user is assured that the fall-arrest system
guarantees a fall-arrest load of less than 6 kN.
