2-1. Driving procedures

If the shift lever cannot be shifted from P (



Automatic gear shifting in 7-Speed Sport Sequential Shiftmatic mode

Even when the gear position is fixed while driving, the gear step will be auto-
matically upshifted or downshifted by one step if the engine speed is too
high, or too low.



Downshifting restrictions warning buzzer (vehicles with 7-Speed Sport
Sequential Shiftmatic mode)

To help ensure safety and driving performance, downshifting operation may
sometimes be restricted. In some circumstances, downshifting may not be
possible even when the shift lever is operated. (The warning buzzer will
sound twice.)



If the “M” indicator is not displayed after shifting the shift lever to the
“M” position (vehicles with 7-Speed Sport Sequential Shiftmatic mode)

If the display does not change to “M” on an occasion other than that
described above, it may indicate a malfunction in the transmission system.
Have your vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional immediately.



If the “M” indicator flashes (vehicles with 7-Speed Sport Sequential
Shiftmatic mode)



When the vehicle is stopped, the transmission is fixed in the first step.
