Considerations
To get the best use from your SoftIPT, consider the following:
•
Use a headset with an attached microphone to provide good call quality and privacy.
•
Use Microsoft Outlook to create contacts. The SoftIPT does not work with Outlook Express.
•
You must enter numbers using the PC keyboard. The SoftIPT does not recognize numbers that you
“copy” and “paste” onto the screen.
•
If you minimize the SoftIPT, incoming calls will “pop up” the SoftIPT to the foreground. If you want the
SoftIPT to “pop up” for incoming calls, always minimize it after each call.
•
Configure the Strata CIX/CTX system for G.711 or G.729A CODEC and pack transmission interval of
20, 30, 40, or 80msec.
Preliminary Information Before You Begin Installation
Before installing the SoftIPT 2.2, make sure that you have the following information. Your dealer technician
or your administrator will have this information.
•
SoftIPT Extension number
•
Outside line access code
•
Long distance dialing prefix
•
IP address of the BIPU/LIPU/MIPU
•
The correct network adapter that the SoftIPT will use to connect to the IPU card.
