ASCII Character Codes

This appendix shows the American Standard Code for Information
Interchange (ASCII) on the following pages. The characters in the

IBM

char

column appear on your display when you type the corresponding

ASCII code (as described in Chapter 5,

The Keyboard

). The characters

that are printed, however, depend on the software you are using. For most
software, the printed output for decimal codes 32 to 128 will match your
screen display.
