2. Stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for all
moving parts to stop before leaving the operating
position.
3. Move the speed control lever to the full forward
position (Fig. 47).

4. Check the orientation of the tabs on the ends of the
speed control crank. These tabs should approximately
be pointing straight down at the 6 o’clock position
(Fig. 48).
5. If adjustment is needed, loosen the nuts on both sides
of the swivel on the speed control rod (Fig. 48).
6. Adjust the swivel, until the tabs are at the 6 o’clock
position (Fig. 48).
7. Tighten the nuts on both sides of the swivel (Fig. 48).

8. Pull the speed control lever back to neutral.
9. Check the travel of the shift lever in the control panel
slot. The shift lever travel should be approximately
centered in the control panel slot (Fig. 47).
10. If needed, adjust the swivel on the speed control rod to
center the shift lever travel (Fig. 48).
11. With the speed control lever in the neutral position,
check to make sure the safety switch is depressed and
there is an 1/8 to 1/4 inch (3 to 6 mm) space between
the actuating tab and the safety switch (Fig. 49).
