Remove the hair pin cotter securing the clutch rod
to the front of the cutting deck and disconnect the
rod from the deck. Unplug the clutch wire from the
harness.
4.
To ease wing belt removal, loosen or remove the
stationary idler pulley next to the wing's inner
spindle pulley.

To Remove the Center Deck Belt

To relieve tension on the center deck belt, pull back
on the idler pulley until the holes in the idler
adjustor tube and the tube sleeve are aligned.
Thread a 5/16-18 capscrew into the holes’ retaining
parts.

Wing deck belts must be removed before the center
deck belt can be removed, repeat steps 1–3.
7.
Remove (2) flange head screws securing the drive
shaft cover to the gear box support and remove the
cover.

Remove the capscrews and nuts securing the front
of the gear box support to the deck channels and
loosen the capscrews securing the rear of the gear
box support to the deck channels.

Raise the front of gearbox support and remove the
old belt from around the gear box pulley and
remaining pulleys.
10.
Route the new belt around the appropriate pulleys
as shown in figure 76.

Remount the gear box support to the deck channels
with the capscrews and nuts you previously
removed.
12.
Reinstall the drive shaft cover to the gear box
support with the (4) flange head screws you
previously removed.
13.
Remount the clutch rod to the deck with a hair pin
cotter and plug the clutch connector into the
harness.
14.
While holding the idler pulley adjustor in position,
carefully remove the capscrew securing the idler
adjustor tube to the tube sleeve. Allow the idler
pulley to release, tensioning the belt.
