Adjusting the Traction Drive For
Neutral
The machine must not creep when the traction pedal is
released. If it does creep, an adjustment is required.
1.
Park the machine on a level surface, shut the engine
off and move shift lever to HI. Depress only the left
brake pedal and engage the parking brake.
2.
Jack up the right side of the machine until the front
tire is off the shop floor. Support -the machine with
jack stands to prevent it from falling accidentally.
3.
Under the left side of the machine, loosen the
locknut on the traction adjustment cam.

Start the engine and rotate the cam hex in either
direction until the wheel stops turning.
5.
Tighten the locknut locking adjustment.
6.
Stop the engine and release the right brake. Remove
the jack stands and lower the machine to the shop
floor. Test drive the machine to make sure it does
not creep.
Changing Front Axle Lubricant
After every 800 hours of operation the oil in the front
axle must be changed.
1.
Position the machine on a level surface.
2.
Clean the area around the drain plug (Fig. 55).

Remove the plug, allowing oil to drain into a drain
pan.
4.
After oil is drained, reinstall the drain plug into the
axle.
5.
Fill the axle with lubricant; refer to
Check Front
Axle Oil Level.

The engine must be running so that final
adjustment of the traction adjustment cam can be
performed. To guard against possible personal
injury, keep hands, feet, face and other parts of
the body away from the muffler, other hot parts
of the engine, and other rotating parts.
