Troubleshooting
Problem Possible Cause Corrective Action
1. The engine is under load. 1. Ensure that the transport lever is in the
transport position so that the scarifier
roller is not contacting the ground
before starting.
2. The fuel tank is empty. 2. Fill the tank with fresh fuel.
3. The choke is open. 3. Close the choke when starting a cold
engine.
4. The throttle is not in the FAST position. 4. Move the throttle to the FAST position.
5. The spark plug wire is loose or
disconnected.
5. Ensure that the spark plug wire is clean
and completely connected.
6. The spark plug is loose. 6. Tighten the spark plug as necessary
per the engine owner’s manual.
7. The spark plug gap is incorrect. 7. Check the electrode gap and correct

The engine does not start.
