Installing the Drive Shaft
Guard
1. Disconnect and remove the drive shaft from the
cutting unit and traction unit (Figure 2). Retain the
mounting fasteners.

2. Remove the grease fitting from the drive shaft slip
yoke tube (Figure 2). Retain the grease fitting.
3. Remove the retaining ring and nylon bushing shipped
in place in the inner drive shaft guard (Figure 2).
4. Slide the retaining ring all the way onto the drive
shaft tube (Figure 2).
5. Insert the nylon bushing into the groove on the drive
shaft tube (Figure 2).
6. Slide the inner drive shaft guard onto the drive shaft
tube, aligning the slots in the guard with the tabs on
the nylon bushing (Figure 2). Push the guard onto
the bushing until the tabs lock into the slots.
7. Through the slots in the guard, work the retaining
ring into the groove inside the guard, locking the
assembly (Figure 2).
8. Install the grease fitting removed previously to the
drive shaft slip yoke tube (Figure 2).
9. Repeat the procedure on the drive shaft slip yoke
shaft, except for the grease fitting (Figure 2).
Important:
When fitting the drive shaft yokes
together during installation on the machine,
make sure the phase lock on the splines is
aligned.
Installing the Rear Weight
Two Wheel Drive Groundsmaster 300 Series Traction Units comply with CE Standards when equipped with
rear weight. Use the chart below to determine the combinations of weight required. Order parts from your local
Authorized Toro Distributor. Four Wheel Drive Groundsmaster 300 Series Traction Units do not need additional
rear weight to comply with CE Standards.
