10 seconds before turning off, a brief beep sounds and the indicator starts flashing. To

extend the operating time, press either the temperature control or press the red button. The

switch-off time is reset.
After switching off, the heater and pump are easily activated again by pressing the red

button. Shortly after heating up, the soldering tool is again ready for use.

3.  Setting the temperature offset

The temperature at the soldering tool’s exit point may be compromised by environmental

conditions. In this case, the temperature displayed might differ from the actual temperature.

The device is able to even up this difference in temperature by a corrective value (offset).
In order to determine the temperature difference, the temperature must be measured.
Determine the temperature by means of a thermometer with external sensor directly at the

soldering tool’s exit port. Write down the measured value (T1).
Now read the actual temperature value on the soldering tool display (T2).
The difference of value T1 and T2 equals the offset value. Example: Measured temperature

300 °C (T1), actual temperature shown 320 °C (T2). T1 - T2 = 300 °C - 320 °C = -20 °C.
To turn this function on, press and hold the red button. The display shows “- - -”.
Set the calculated offset value with the “SET TEMP” controller. Release the red button. The

value is stored and maintained also after turning the device off.

Notes on operation

  1.   Be careful when working with high temperatures!

Never use the device in close proximity to inflammable gases, paper and other

flammable materials! The hot air nozzle as well as the warmed up air are ex-

tremely hot and can lead to painful burns upon contact with them. Thus, never

touch the hot air nozzle with your hands! Make sure that the hot air can never

blow onto your skin! The white smoke at the beginning disappears shortly.

2.   After its use, the device must cool down completely!

When you have switched off the device, it starts cooling down automatically by

blowing cool air through the hose. Never pull the mains plug out of the socket

during this phase but wait until this phase is completed!

3.   Use the device carefully - do not expose it to mechanical stress!

The pipe in the hot air nozzle consists partly of fragile quartz glass.

4.   We strongly recommend to unplug the device from the mains voltage

when it is not used for a longer period of time!

There is a small amount of current even in electrical devices that are connected

to the mains. For this reason, it is advisable to disconnect the device from the

mains!

Unsoldering

1.  To melt the tin-solder, hold the hot air nozzle so that the nozzle adapter is positioned di-

rectly over the IC. (Direct contact between IC and adapter must absolutely be avoided!) The

tin-solder starts melting due to the emitting hot air.

2.  Please remove the IC with pincers or tweezers as soon as the tin-solder is melted.
3.  After you have removed the IC you can remove the remaining tin-solder with an unsolder-

ing pump.

Soldering

1.  Apply e.g. the correct amount of SMD soldering paste and place the SMD piece on the

board!

2.  Place the conductor board on a heating plate for pre-heating!
3.  Heat the soldering position evenly with hot air!
4.  Remove the remaining soldering material after the soldering process is finished!

  Note:

We recommend that you check the amount of soldering material sufficiently. Sol-

dering with hot air requires special concentration. Otherwise unwanted jumpers or

over-sized soldering points could be the result!

Changing the fuse

Disconnect the device from the mains each time you replace the fuse.

The device is protected with a fuse. Unscrew the protective cap at the backside of the housing.

Remove the fuse. Replace it by a fuse of the same type (T3,15A 250 V, 5x20 mm). Screw the

protective cap tightly.

Maintenance, care & disposal

The safety instructions below must be noted before the device is cleaned or maintained:

Only a specialist who is familiar with the risks and relevant regulations may

carry out repairs or open the housing.

Before starting to clean or maintain, the device must be disconnected from

the mains!

This device is maintenance-free. Clean the exterior of the device only with a soft, dry cloth or

brush. Never use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions since these might damage

the surface of the casing or impair the operation.

Error message

The device monitors parameters and heating elements automatically. However, if a malfunction

is detected, this will be shown as an error code on the display. Possible errors are:
Display “S-E”:
Time-out at the temperature sensor, or the maximum temperature was exceeded. Reduce the

set temperature and let the device cool off. Turn the device off and on again. If you still receive

this error code, please contact Customer Service.
Display “H-E”:
Short circuit at the temperature sensor, or time-out at the heating element. Please contact

Customer Service.
Display “C-E”:
Control loop shows zero crossing error. Turn the unit off and on. If you still receive this error

code, please contact Customer Service.

Disposal

Regarding our environment and to enable full recycling of the used raw material, the

user is asked to bring the worn and defective devices to public collecting places for

electric scrap.

The symbol with the crossed out dust bin on wheels means that this product must be

brought to a recycling site for electric scrap for a best possible recycling of the raw

materials.
