6-INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1) After unloading the lift, place it near the intended installation location.
2) Remove the shipping bands and packing materials from the unit.
3) Remove the packing brackets and bolts holding the two columns together (do not
discard bolts, they are used in the assembly of the lift)
4) Once the lift location is decided, chalk the center line in the bay and ensure that the
proper lift placement is observed from walls and obstacles. Also check the ceiling
height for clearance in this location.
NOTE:
the power unit column can be located on
either side.
5) Assemble the uprights to the columns on model HD2P-9000AC. The HD2P-9000AF has
columns only-no uprights or overhead beam. Raise the columns to a vertical position.
(See Fig. 6, page 26).
6) Position the columns facing each other 134 1/2” outside base plates.
NOTE:
The power
unit column is referred to as the main side column and the non power unit column is
referred to as the offside column.
7) Using a 3/4” concrete drill bit, drill the anchor holes in the main side column, installing
anchors as you go (see Fig. 11, page 31). Use a block of wood or rubber mallet to drive
anchor bolts in.
8) Using a level , check column for side-to-side plumb and front-to-back plumb. Use 3/4”
washers or shim stock, placing shims as close as possible to the hole locations. This
will prevent bending the column bottom plates. Tighten 3/4” anchor bolts to 85-lbs.
NOTE:
DO NOT USE IMPACT WRENCH
9) Using a tape measure, measure diagonally from the face of one column to the opposite
face of the other, to ensure that the columns are square (see Fig. 11, page 31). After
confirming the dimensions, install the overhead beam for AC model (see Fig 6, page 26)
to the top of the columns BEFORE drilling the anchors for the offside column to ensure
the column is plumb. For AF model, repeat steps 7 & 8 for offside column installation.
10)
After overhead beam is assembled for AC model drill and anchor offside column as
described in steps 7 & 8.
11) Installing the equalizing cables: refer to Fig 7 (pg. 27) or Fig 8 (pg. 28) for general cable
arrangement for both HD2P-9000AC and HD2P-9000AF. Set carriages on the first safety
latch engagement. Be sure each carriage is at the same height by measuring from the
top of the base to the bottom of the carriage (double check the latches before working
under the carriages). This dimension should be within 1/4”. Run first cable Fig 7 for
AC model or Fig 8 for AF model. Tighten nut on one cable stud so that the end of stud
passes the nylon on the nut. Pull the other end of cable and run nut on it. Tighten both
nuts. Repeat above for second cable.
PLEASE READ THIS INSTRUCTION BEFORE STARTING TO OPERATE THE LIFT.
