3.5 Pull off the telescope
Position the MultiSafe TT 3 vertically with the rubber bumpers to the ground and
pull out the tube 1 m beneath to the test hight. Start with the thinnest tube, release the
lock, pull out and arrest it with the next tube. Proceed until the desired length is achieved.
4. Measuring and testing
4.1 Testing voltage
Attention!
Hold the device below the display part!
The function test must have been performed successfully and the magnet
must be connacted to the rail.
Magnet can carry voltage, when not connected to rail.
Contact voltage only above the red limiting mark!
Hold the tube below the display part and mount the hook electrode to the overhead line.
The display part should be a little above eye level to read it may well. As soon as the
electrode is mounted to the overhead line, the present voltage is signalised.
Note: Inducted voltage can also be displayed without direct contact to
the overhead line.

Ut = response voltage. The value of Ut is labelled on the name plate.
By keeping the key pressed, the Ut value is displayed on the LCD after displaying „oFF“.
The software version is then displayed.
Attention!
With voltage of more than 1000 V AC / 1500 V DC „OL“ without numerical value appears and an acoustic signal
accurs. In this case the test must be canceled immediately!
Note: Also on grounded overhead lines interference voltages up to 300 V can be displayed.
The voltage-tester is equipped with an steady function monitoring. If, during voltage tests „ - U - Err“ is displayed,
the tester is faulty and may not be placed into operation! The voltage-tester is equipped with an steady function

Continuous monitoring
For safety, the TT 3 can be hooked up in the overhead line during the work.
Should a voltage > 230 V return, the TT 3 switches on automatically and warns through its 360 ° LED display as well
as by acoustic signal.
Frequency indication
Simultaneously to voltage indication, the upper display line indicates the mains frequency in Hz.
With direct voltage „dc“ is indicated.
AC/DC Polarity
Type of voltage is indicated by symbole „~“ for AC and no sign or „–“ for DC. „-“ appears when minus is applied with
direct voltage to the test electrode with display part. When plus is applied to the test electrode with display part,
no sign appears.
