Slab Gripper
Plan and implement a complete Fall Protection Plan prior to use. The Slab Gripper ONLY installs onto concrete or
compatible pan decking.
The Tie Down Slab Gripper MUST install evenly against the substrate and must allow guardrail posts to be
positioned perpendicular to the working surface. Concrete substrate MUST be deemed compatible with the Tie
Down Slab Gripper by a Competent Person.
1. Selected work area must be free of all hazards, including, but not limited to, debris, rot, decay,
cracking, and hazardous materials. NEVER install the Slab Gripper on gravel or other loose or slippery
surfaces. Guardrail systems must be installed a MINIMUM of 10’ from power lines and all other
electrical hazards.
2. All guardrails MUST be 2” x 4” construction grade lumber OR wire cabling with strength and installation
deemed compatible by a Competent Person. All other applicable equipment must be selected
and deemed compatible by a Competent Person.
3. Toprails must be 42” (+/- 3”) above the working surface or, if used in stilt work applications,
42” plus the height of stilts.
4. Midrails must be halfway between the top edge of the guardrail system and the working level
(not the toeboard).
5. Toeboards are REQUIRED on surfaces with slopes more than 4/12 (vertical/horizontal).
6. Toeboards are REQUIRED if a risk exists for tools, equipment, materials, or other substances to fall down
to a lower level.
7. Toeboards must be a minimum of 3-1/2” from their top edge to the work surface, and must not have
greater than 1/4” clearance between their bottom edge and the working surface.
