5.6. Troubleshooting

As shown in Figure 10, there are 2 LEDs on the front panel of the controller

  C3. Bulb status indication LED

  C4. Temperature warning LED

During normal operation, all LEDs will turn GREEN.

5.6.1. Overheating

On occasions when the controller is overheated, the temperature warning LED, C4, will turn red and the lamp will
be shut off automatically.

The LCD screen of the controller will give an error message of “OT” (over temperature).

When such a warning occurs, shut down the controller and allow it some time to cool down before switching it on
again.

If the warning keeps occurring when the controller is operating within the specified temperature range, please
contact Thorlabs Tech Support.

5.6.2. Lamp Not

C

onnected

If the controller is switched on without being connected to the lamp, the bulb status indication LED, C3, will turn
RED and the LCD screen will give an error message of “Power Off, Check Lamp”. Please switch off the controller
and recheck the connection between the lamp housing and controller.

If the warning message continues to occur even when the lamp housing is properly connected, please contact
Thorlabs Tech Support.

5.6.3.  Bulb State Warning

On occasions when the bulb can not be ignited, the bulb status indicating LED, C3, will turn RED. And the LCD
screen will give an error message of “Fault”.

A bulb state warning is usually caused by the following reasons:

1.  No bulb is installed.

2.  The bulb is installed incorrectly.

3.  The bulb has reached the end of its lifetime.

4.  Failed attempt to ignite a hot bulb.

When such a warning occurs, please double-check that the bulb is securely seated in the holder as well as the
lifetime of the bulb. Also make sure the lamp is cooled down before attempting to switch the unit on.

If the warning keeps occurring with a new bulb even when it is cold, please contact Thorlabs Tech Support.
