4.5 Polarity Check of the TEC
Preconditions
·
Connect TEC element and temperature sensor (see section
). The
sensor must have good thermal contact to the active surface of the TEC element.
·
Switch on the ITC1xx.
·
Select the correct type of sensor (
).
·
Set the appropriate value

Adjust the temperature set point T

) a few degrees away from the actual room temperature.

runs away from the set point, the TEC element is reverse poled. Change
polarity and repeat the procedure.

is oscillating around the set point, the TEC element is connected correctly,
but the
values of the control loop need to be adjusted.

is settling properly to the set point, the TEC element has been connected
correctly, however the values for the P-, I- and D share of the control loop might still need
to be adjusted (Refer to section
).

When the standard heat sink is used, the total output current should be limited to 3 A (I
