DC4104

4   Computer Interface

The  DC4104  comes  with  a  USB  2.0  interface.  This  provides  a  remote  control  capability.
Thorlabs delivers a USB remote control software as well as device drivers for users who want
to create an own remote control application, e.g. using C or LabVIEW

®

 . 

4.1   Software Installation

 Note 

You need administrator privileges on your PC in order to install the software. 

Insert the 'Thorlabs DC4100 Series - 4 Channel LED Driver CD 2.0' (or higher) CD-ROM in your
CD/DVD drive. It automatically starts up and displays the installation start screen.

In  case  this  'auto  start'  feature  is  disabled  on  your  computer  please  execute  the
'Autorun\Autorun.exe' file on the CD.

 Note 

For remote operation of a DC4104, a 'NI-VISA™ Engine' of version 5.1.1 or higher must be in-
stalled  on  your  system.  The  DC4100  Series  software  installer  package  contains  this  VISA
Runtime Engine and checks your system. If it's not installed, or an earlier version is recognized,
the installer will automatically install it to your computer. After Installation you might be promp-
ted to reboot your PC - please see detailed description as below.

Select 'DC4100 Series - Application software' from the installation menu and follow the instruc-
tions. Below  the installation to a Windows 7

 operating system is described.

If the NI VISA Runtime V 5.1.1 is not installed yet the Wizard starts it's installation, otherwise
the wizard skips NI-VISA installation and proceeds starts with the installation of 

DC4100 Series

application

 software. Please see the screen shots below, you can see also the default button
