Tighten the cover by screwing the 8 x M4 screws.
Tighten in diagonal to homogenize the pressure around
the cover.
Preparing the Sample Inside a Glove Box
All this procedure must be performed inside an appropriate glove box if sample is air sensitive or
presents any risk. In this case, be careful to clean all metallic parts to avoid any pollution of the glove
box. The cell should be opened.
Do not forget any components:
Main core of the sample holder,
Support of sample holder,
Cover and 8 screws and Allen keys,
Crucible,
O-ring,
Spatula and glass slide,
sample!
Put the sample holder back on the glove box airlock. Install on the ARL diffractometer as described
above.
If sample does not require any further preparation, then proceed as described in
If the sample requires a preparation, such as gas flushing or gas replacement, then follow the next
steps.
Preparing Sample Inside a Glove Box and Gas Replacement
If the cell should be connected to gas supply or vacuum pump, then it is necessary to connect the
valve interface between SSCA and your gas exchanger device.
Valve adaptor (SSCA-VA) to connect SSCA to external device (pumping, flushing…)
With this fitting, it is possible to connect the sample holder to a gas cylinder or a vacuum pump when
SSCA is extracted from glove box.
