Operating Manual
Follow these steps
1. Replace the following seal wash lines (silicone tubing) with the NP
compatible tubing:

Seal wash lines that connect the seal wash reservoir to the
peristaltic tubing in the pump:
Follow the steps in the
Operating Manual for the Vanquish
autosampler .
¨
Tubing from the seal wash pump to the pump head and on to
the seal wash detector (see
Replacing the Seal Wash Lines
( } page 131) ).
2. VC‑pumps except VC‑P21 and VC‑P33
¨
Replace the piston seals with the seals from the Normal Phase
kit. Follow the replacement instructions in
Replacing the Piston
Seals or Support Ring ( } page 147) .
¨
Install new pistons. See Replacing the Pistons ( } page 144) .
When replacing the piston seals, also install new pistons.
Changing the piston seals but keeping the pistons may impair
the seal life.
¨
Replace the seal wash seals with the seals from the Normal
Phase kit. Follow the replacement instructions in
Replacing the
Seal Wash Seals (
}
page 154) .
3. Test the pump for leakage.

Follow the instructions in Testing the Pump for Leakage (General Test)
(
}
page 179) . With one exception, all values in the procedure that are
specific for the VC‑pump equally apply to the modified VC‑pump.
Exception
When the pressure is 55 MPa, apply the flow indicated in the table and
proceed with observing the pressure. The pressure should increase or
remain constant for a minimum of 1 minute. If you observe a drop in
pressure, find and eliminate the cause for the leak as appropriate.
