The model of the
Slider-Bot uses a
type of crank called
a slider crank to
convert the rotating
motion of the gears
into the vertical up-and-down motion of
the legs. The legs are not fixed directly to
the gears; instead each leg has a slot in it in
which a pin that is spinning around on the
gear slides up and down.
