The model of the Stomp-Bot shows how
having four legs instead of two can
lead to a much more stable walking
machine. In this model, two of the
four legs are always on the ground at
any one time. The inner legs support
the model as the outer legs rotate
upward, to the front of the model, and
then downward. When the outer legs
make contact with the ground, they
start pushing the whole model upward
because they are able to extend down
further than the inner legs do. Two legs
at a time, the model marches forward.
