4.
Remove each aileron that does not have the rivet butts on the upper surface of the lower guard installed
to specification. (Refer to the Maintenance Manual, Chapter 27, Aileron Control Cables - Maintenance
Practices.)
A.
If the left aileron must be removed, prior to aileron removal, record the amount of aileron trim tab
deflection when the aileron trim control knob is centered.
NOTE:
This is the flight neutral position and must be the same when the aileron is installed.
5.
Remove and replace all rivets in the lower guards not installed to specification.
A.
Disconnect the wing aileron cable. (Refer to the Maintenance Manual, Chapter 27, Aileron Control
Cables - Maintenance Practices.)
B.
(Refer to Figure 1.) Remove the eight bolts from the wing aileron quadrant and pull the aileron
quadrant aft and out of the wing. Keep all hardware for installation.
NOTE:
When the aileron quadrant is pulled aft, the washers located forward of the aileron sector
bolt may fall into the wing. Make sure to keep all parts to install the aileron actuator after
the rivets are replaced.
NOTE:
The attached aileron quadrant control cables allow the assembly to hang down out of the
way while the rivets are replaced.
C.
(Refer to Figure 1.) Remove rivets that are not installed to specification and that attach the lower
guard to the lower support.
D.
Install MS20426B4-7N Rivets as necessary in a double flush installation in the lower guard to
attach the lower guard to the lower support.
E.
Install the aileron actuator plate assembly and make sure that the aileron sector, aileron cables, and
the lower guard do not touch when they operate.
(1)
Remove material from the lower guard as necessary so the aileron sector, aileron cables, and
the lower guard do not touch when they operate.
F.
Install the aileron actuator assembly with all the hardware and the eight bolts that were removed in
Step 5B. (Refer to the Maintenance Manual, Chapter 27, Aileron Actuator - Removal/Installation.)
G.
Connect the aileron cable that was disconnected in Step 5A. (Refer to the Maintenance Manual,
Chapter 27, Aileron Control Cables - Maintenance Practices.)

Install the aileron on each wing as necessary. (Refer to the Maintenance Manual, Chapter 27, Aileron -
Removal/Installation.)
7.
Use the amount of aileron trim tab deflection recorded in Step 4A before disassembly, and rig the aileron
system as necessary.
8.
Connect the airplane battery. (Refer to the Maintenance Manual, Chapter 24, Battery -
