unless these Operating Instructions state a
different proceeding. Defective switches should
also be replaced by an authorise shop. Do not
use the tool, if it is not possible switch it on and
off via the switch.

25. The use of accessories other than those re-

commended in these Operating Instructions
may lead to personal injury.

26. Caution: Under extraordinary circumstances

(short circuit, overheating) corrosive fluid may
pour out of the accumulator. Rinse with plenty
of water if this fluid reaches your eyes or skin
and attend a doctor immediately.

5. Instructions for Using the Battery

1.

When the hedge hedge trimmers are delivered,

the replaceable battery is not charge. Before
starting the machine for the first time, the battery
must be charged.

2.

The battery will reach full capacity only after being

charged and discharged for 5 times.

3.

You must never open the battery.

4.

Never throw the used batteries in fire - RISK OF

EXPLOSION!

5.

Connect the battery charger only to mains with

such a voltage as stated on the type-bearing plate.

6.

Use only the original battery.

7.

Never charge the battery with a battery charger

from other producer. This can result in the battery
being damaged or it can result in an injury due to
overheating.

8.

During a long-term operation, the battery may

heat up. Let it cool down before charging it.

9.

Do not store the battery charger and the batteries

within children's reach.

10. Do not use the battery charger in an environment

with vapors or inflammable fluids.

11. Charge the batteries only at a temperature within

the range of 10°C to 40°C.

12. Never store the batteries at a temperature over

40°C.

13. Never short-circuit the contacts of the batteries

and never interconnect them with metal objects.

14. When transporting the battery, take care that the

contacts are not interconnected, do not use
metal transportation containers.

15. Short-circuit of the battery can lead to explosion.

In any case, the short-circuit connection will
damage the battery.

16. Check the cable regularly on whether it is da-

maged. If the cable is damaged, have it replaced.

17. Never discharge the batteries up to the point

when the hedge trimmers completely stop to
operate.

18. Before storing the batteries for the wintertime,

charge them fully once more.

6. Environmental Instructions

Please observe the following directions for the
disposal of your accumulator/battery.
Batteries are not to be put into the rubbish. As a
consumer you are legally obliged to return used
batteries and accumulators. At the end of the duration
of your apparatus, the batteries or accumulators
have to be taken from the apparatus, disposing of
them separately.
You have the possibility of delivering your old
batteries and accumulators to the local collecting
points of your municipality or to your dealer or to the
distribution centers.

7. Charging the Batteries

 (fig. 2, 3 and 4)

To take out the battery, press both push-buttons
on the sides designated with the number 1 and
take out the battery (fig. 2 and 3)

Connect the battery charger to the socket. Make
sure that the voltage stated on the battery charger
corresponds with the mains voltage in your
socket.

Connect the charging set to the charging station
using the jack plug of the charging set with the
socket on the rear of the charging station.

Insert the batteries in the charging unit. Attention:
the battery can only be inserted in the charging
unit in one position (fig. 4).

The process of charging the battery is indicated
with a red light indicator. The green light indicator
indicates that the battery charger transfers the
charging voltage to the charging unit properly.

The period of charging amounts approximately to
8 hours. Longer period of charging can damage
your batteries. During the process of charging,
the battery heats up. This is normal and it indi-
cates no defect.

Please, pay attention to the following statement:
the battery charger does not turn off automatically.
Therefore keep checking on whether the prescribed
charging period has not expired.

If the charging light indicator is not lit up, check if
there is electric current in the socket. If the char-
ging of the batteries is not possible, give the battery
charger and the batteries to a service shop.

Warning:

 Never discharge the NC-batteries com-

pletely, that is, up to the point when the hedge trimmers
completely stop to operate. If you observe marked
decrease in the performance or marked decrease in
the speed of rotation when operating the hedge
trimmers, you should turn off the machine and
charge the battery. If you charge a partially discharged
battery, an effect which is called the "memory effect"
can take place. This means that the battery will not
attain its full capacity again and the operational
period will be reduced. The battery can be
regenerated as follows:
Operate the hedge trimmers until you observe
marked decrease in their performance and then charge
the batteries according to the instructions. Repeat
