9. Start/Stop
Starting a cold engine.
Place trimmer on a solid, level surface.
Set switch to "Start" (figure 8,3).
Press pump 8-10 (under air filter) (figure 9,2).
Set choke (figure 9,1)
Activate safety switch (figure 8,2), and press throttle (figure 8,1). Lock handle with lock
mechanism (figure 8,4).
Pull starter cord until engine fires.
Set choke to run position (figure 9,1)
when engine is warm.
Starting a warm engine.
Set start switch to "Start" (figure 8,3).
Set choke (figure 9,1)
Pull starter cord until engine fires (figure 2,4).
Stopping engine
Release throttle (figure 8,1).
Set switch to "Stop" (figure 8,3).
10. Operation.
Always cut high grass from the top and down. This will prevent grass from getting twisted
around the drive shaft and trimmer head, which can cause overheating and damage. If
grass or the like does get twisted around the drive shaft, STOP engine, detach spark plug
lead and remove.
Trimmer
Twine feed can be controlled by tapping the twine housing against the ground with the
engine at full power.
Hold trimmer at an angle towards the area to be cut.
Figure 10 shows the best cutting zone. Always work from left to right.
Use twine to cut. Do not force twine housing into uncut grass. Wire and fences cause
accelerated wear and can break twine. Stones and bricks, curbstones and wood cause
very rapid twine wear. Work around trees and bushes. Bark and wooden ornaments, wood
cladding and posts can be damaged by the twine.
Bush clearer
Figure 11 shows the best cutting zone. Always work from right to left.
