StorageLynx EVM Programming Application Overview
The StorageLynx EVM bundle contains the following software files:
S2LynxVC.exe. StorageLynx programming application executable file.
Support files:
SEQFWAPI.reg. Registration file for registry edits.
SEQFWAPI.sys.
WAPI1394.dll.
Sbp2lynx.hex. Flash memory software. Intel Hex file format output by
most 8051 compilers.
TI_HDD.eep. Config ROM file for HDD, ZIP, MO, and ORB devices.
TI_CD.eep. Config ROM file for CD–ROM, CD–R/W, DVD–ROM, and
DVD–RAM devices.
The EVM programming application software is used to download code to the
flash memory or the EEPROM on the EVM to allow normal or developmental
use of the ATA/ATAPI device attached to the EVM. The S2LynxVC program
can load a configuration ROM file into the serial EEPROM or program code
(firmware) into flash memory. When the software is loaded, a message ap-
pears on the computer screen that Flash or EEPROM reprogramming has
been completed. The ATA/ATAPI device connected to the EVM is then avail-
able for normal use or, in the case of custom software, the ATA/ATAPI device
can be tested to ensure proper operation.
Custom software may be loaded to the flash or EEPROM using S2LynxVC.
Example firmware code, with licensing restrictions, is available from Texas
Instruments for use in custom software development. The following general
guidelines should be followed for developing custom .eep files:
Configuration ROM files must be in the same format as the included
Config ROM file (TI_HDD.eep).
Comments are allowed, but must be preceded by //.
The first line in the file must be a header, because the application
calculates cyclic redundancy checks (CRCs) and places them in the
proper locations. CRC values are all F in the .eep files.
The first number in the header is the number of blocks after the
BUS_INFO_BLOCK (in TI_HDD.eep this is ROOT DIRECTORY, UNIT
DIRECTORY, AND 3 TEXT LEAVES). The next 5 numbers are the offsets
of each block from 0x400.
