Connecting
Connection variations
A connector terminal with four ter-
minal clips is located on the back of
each speaker. You can connect the
speaker cables using pin plugs or
directly. We only describe the direct
connection here. The terminals are
each marked red (+) and black (-).
In addition to a standard connec-
tion, where every speaker column
is connected to the amplifi er with a
cable, you can also choose the variants “Bi-Wiring” or
“Bi-Amping”.
Standard connection
With this connection, the Ultima 40 speakers are con-
nected like conventional speakers with one 2-strands
speaker cable each. The contact bridges between the
connector terminals may not be removed in the process;
you can connect the cables accordingly to the top or bot-
tom terminals.
Bi-Wiring
For this, the high and midrange speakers are connected
with one speaker cable and the two low range speakers
are connected with a second speaker cable.
Bi-Amping
For this, the high/midrange and low range speakers have
their own amplifi ers.
You only have to remove the con-
tact bridges when using Bi-Wiring
or Bi-Amping: Turn the connec-
tor terminals counterclockwise
until loose and then pull out the
contact bridges. The top termi-
nals lead to the high range and
midrange speakers, the bottom
terminals lead to the low range
speakers.
Connecting the cables
Danger
Danger of injury/damage!
Arrange the cables so that they do not pose a
trip hazard.
1. Turn off your amplifi er.
2. Lay the speaker cable from your amplifi er to each
of the speakers. This cable should be a high-quality
double-wire speaker cable with marked strands. The
cross-section should amount to at least 1,5 mm

.
Make sure the polarity is correct!
Connect the like coloured terminals of your
speakers and amplifi er with one another. Oth-
erwise the sound quality will suffer. The individual strips
of the speaker cables are marked with different colours or
shapes to facilitate this.
3. Split the single-
wire down to
approx. 30
mm on both
ends and strip
off approx. 10
mm of insula-
tion on each of
them. Twist the
stripped ends of the single-wire together so that no
strand is protruding.
4. Turn the connector terminals
counterclockwise until loose.
Run the stripped ends of the sin-
gle-wire into the holes that are
now visible. Close the terminals
by turning them clockwise. The
cable has now been clamped
in place.
5. Connect the other end of the
speaker cables to your ampli-
fi er. The operating instructions
of the appliance should contain
notes on this.
