ii.2 Safety Messages Description

A safety message is always accompanied by a safety alert symbol and a 
signal word.

This is the “safety alert” symbol. It is used to alert about poten-
tial personal injury hazards. Obey all safety messages that follow 
this symbol to avoid death or injury.

The following safety alert symbols and “signal words” are used 
in this manual and on the machine or equipment itself to inform 
the user of hazards.

DANGER

indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not 
avoided, will result in death or serious injury.

WARNING

indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, 
could result in death or serious injury.

CAUTION

indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, 
may result in minor or moderate injury. It may also be used to 
alert against unsafe practices.

CAUTION

(without the safety alert symbol) indicates a potentially 
hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in property 
damage.
