Use a recommended oil - do not mix oils or fats.
•
Take into account the type of food when you set the frying temperature. Generally, pre-
•
cooked foods need a higher cooking temperature than raw foods.
If you need to add oil, do so between batches. Allow the oil to heat up to the right tem-
•
perature before continuing - (“Ready” light on).
During cooking, the “Ready” light may go on and off - this is normel and not a cause for
•
concern.
Follow your recipe to help you cook food for the correct time.
•
Ensure there is enough room to operate the frying basket.
•
Use the fryer in well ventilated conditions. All food contains moisture which turns to steam
•
during frying.
Ensure that the food is completely immersed in the oil.
•
Cook food thoroughly. Remember that food may turn golden brown before it has cooked
•
through.
Do not lean over the fryer when cooking food.
•
Check the progress of the food during cooking.
•
Do NOT touch the metal surfaces of the fryer during cooking.
•
Always hold the basket by the handle during cooking.
•
Do not shake the basket when it is in the oil - hot oil causes severe burns!!
•
WHEN THE FOOD IS COOKED
Lift the basket, Place it in the raised position and wait a few seconds to let the oil drain off
•
and the steam to subside.
Shake the basket
•
slightly
to remove excess oil
Transfer the food carefully to a heatproof utensil and return the basket to the fryer in the
•
raised position.
If the food is not fully cooked: Lower the basket into the oil, and continue cooking.
•
Return the basket to the fryer in the
•
LOWERED position.
Switch off the mains socket and un-
•
plug the fryer.
Place the lid on the fryer.
•
Leave the appliance to cool fully be-
•
fore cleaning.
Note:
•
If you are using solid fat,
remove the basket from the fryer
before
the fat in the tank solidifies.
Leave the basket on a heatproof sur-
face to cool after removing it from
the fryer and before washing it as
described elsewhere in the manual.
If you operate the fryer without any oil or with a very
low level of oil in the tank the element will rapidly
reach a dangerously high temperature. If this occurs
the element will switch off automatically and dis-
connect power to the fryer. The mains power light
will also extinguish.
To reset the fryer:
Disconnect the fryer from the
mains supply, and allow it to cool down completely.
Now remove the fryer element and depress the Re-
set Button. The fryer will now operate normally.
WARNING: it is extremely dangerous to operate
the fryer with low or no oil in the tank.
