Chapter 2 Regesta-PRO ER B
2.1 Characteristics
The Regesta-PRO ER B family is a range of IP routers particularly suited to hostile and extreme environments.
Thanks to their ruggedized mechanics and special characteristics, which allow them to tolerate extreme temperat-
ures, these routers are especially suitable for: industrial environments, industrial telecontrol, distribution installations
for electricity, gas, water, etc.
Thanks to its modular design, this device can quickly adapt to the latest WWAN technologies. The Regesta-PRO ER
B is compatible with wireless technologies such as GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA+, LTE, CDMA
2000 1xRTT, CDMA Ev-Do. The basic license makes connections through GPRS/EDGE technology possible. Addi-
tional licenses provide support for technologies with a wider bandwidth. Depending on the model, the device may in-
clude 0, 1 or 2 WWAN modules. In addition, said device can accommodate 2 SIM cards. These can be active when
two modules are incorporated, or one can play an active role while the other is used as backup in configurations with
a single module.
As for LAN networks, this device incorporates a 6 port 10/100BaseT LAN Ethernet Switch. The basic license enables
the first 2 ports. By upgrading said basic license, you can enable all 6 ports.
The RS-232 console port can be configured as a DCE asynchronous serial communications port, with a maximum
speed of 38400 bps without control signals. The device can incorporate two additional asynchronous serial ports with
a maximum speed of 115200, with DCE RS-232 technology or with RS-485 2-4 wires/RS-422. Serial port connectors
are DB9.
The device incorporates a transparent protector, which prevents connectors from being touched while the device is
running.

2.1.2 Monitoring hardware
The Regesta-PRO ER B hardware is monitored through LEDs on the front panel. Said LEDs provide visual informa-
tion on what is happening in the router. These indicate the status of the hardware components, if there is connection
or not, data flow, etc.
