APPENDIX 1
– TROUBLESHOOTING
The following table provides a guideline to fault-finding on the ORYX panel and devices connected to the
product. The values below should not be used to design a system or as alternative values to the specifications
of this product. Due to varying resistive tolerances on electronic components, the ranges indicated in the table
below will vary between each panel.
5.1.1
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
◼
General Faults
Event Description
Possible Cause
Action Required
System Fault LED Flashing.
CPU is frozen or panel is in boot load mode.
Ensure that the boot load jumper is not
fitted and then hard reset the power
supply.
No sounders or relays are
activating. General Disable and
Sounder Disable LEDs are ON.
Controls enabled LED is flashing.
Service/Commissioning mode is active.
Ensure service switch is in the left
position.
Cannot Silence sounders or reset
panel.
Controls disabled.
Ensure controls are enabled.

Power Supply Faults
Description
Measurement
Possible Cause
Action Required
Resistance
Voltage
AUX 24 V DC Fault
N/A
0 V
Load exceeds maximum current
rating 500 mA.
Remove load, check for short circuits,
and consult load technical information.
Battery Fault
< 20 V DC
Batteries unplugged or internal
resistance high.
Check battery circuit connections or
replace batteries.
Charger Fail
0 V DC
Batteries unplugged or PSU in boost
mode or PSU in Overload mode or
Circuit failure.
Check battery circuit connections or
reduce current draw on panel to below
1.2 Amp.
AC Fault
< 100 V AC
AC input is not sufficient.
Check Mains supply or termination to
PSU AC input.
100
– 250 V AC Input fuse or MOVs are damaged.
Replace fuse and investigate for
unstable Mains supply.
> 250 V AC
AC input exceeds rating.
Check Mains supply.
Low Earth Fault
N/A
< 9.0 V DC
Short between DC negative and AC
Earth.
Remove short.
To determine the Earth voltage level,
measure the DC voltage between any
DC negative terminal and the AC earth.
High Earth fault
N/A
> 15 V DC
Positive DC voltage induction onto
AC Earth.
Remove induction.
To determine the Earth voltage level,
measure the DC voltage between any
DC positive terminal and the AC earth.
