electrically grounded in conform-
ance to this code. In Canada, wiring
must comply with CSA C22.1, Part
1, Electrical Code.
•
Wearing protective equipment (pro-
tective gloves, work clothes, safety
shoes, safety helmet)
•
Fan is mounted
NOTE
Property damage due to
misapplication
Fans must always be con-
nected to a frequency in-
verter. Operation directly on
the mains leads to damage to
the engine and other property
damage.
Always connect the fan
to a frequency inverter.
Important information on fre-
quency inverters not mounted
directly at the motor
Observe the following instruc-
tions for handling frequency in-
verters not mounted directly at
the motor:
•
For supply voltages 460 and 480V,
a motor filter between the frequency
inverter and the motor is required.
•
Max input voltage is also 480V for
customer-owned frequency invert-
ers.
•
Max cable length between motor
and frequency inverter:
-
IV (customer-owned): please
contact the frequency inverter
supplier and specify the maxi-
mum permissible pulse control
(see below).
-
IV & Omron (in the control cab-
inet): max. 65 feet / 20m
-
IV & Kostal, close to the motor
with wall adapter plate: max. 9
feet / 3m
•
In the case of inverter supply volt-
ages > 400 V, longer cables (see
above) and/or exceeding the pulse
voltages (max. 1000 Vpk for drive
motors up to 0.75 kW, max. 1300
Vpk for drive motors greater than
0.75 kW) on the motor terminals,
suitable measures such as a motor
filter to protect the motor must be
installed. Please contact the in-
verter supplier for customer-owned
frequency inverters.
•
If a motor filter is required, it must
be installed between the inverter
and the motor. Please ensure suffi-
cient space in the control cabinet
and reference the specifications for
installation and installation in the
operating instructions of the fre-
quency inverter/motor filter manu-
facturer.
•
Further information on near-motor
wall mounting can be found in
Kostal's original operating and as-
sembly instructions.
•
In all cases, the electrical intercon-
nectors between the motor and the
frequency inverter must be de-
signed with suitable, shielded ca-
bles, laid in the shortest possible
way and without any further clamp-
ing or plug connections, and must
be professionally connected on
both sides.
•
The shielding mesh of the connect-
ing cables must be fully, consist-
ently and on both sides, which
means on the frequency inverter
