7.3. Connecting LEDs
You can connect several LEDs in parallel or serial (in series) to one
output (see following sections). Which version fits better depends
amongst others from the mounting situation.
LEDs are polarized. Connect the cathode (-) to the output and the
anode (+) to the return conductor. With wired versions the anode (+)
has the longer "leg", with SMD versions the cathode (-) is marked (e.g.
by a reamed corner or a paint mark).
Caution:
LEDs always have to be connected via a series resistor,
otherwise they will be damaged when put into operation. Advice
concerning choosing a series resistor → "Parallel / Serial connection of
