With this code it is possible to get a status byte from the printer:

Status byte:

Bit 0

= BUSY

Bit 1

= offline

Bit 2

= paper end

Bit 3

= always 1

Bit 4

= cover open

Bit 5

= buffer overflow

Bit 6

= parity or framing error

Bit 7

= always 0

This code concerns only serial data transfer with ENQ/STX protocol.
