Setting Up a Network Printer on Macintosh

Operating System Requirements

For optimum printer performance, use the Macintosh printer driver in the 

following system and network environment:

Mac OS 8.1 or later

AppleTalk connection

Standard 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX Ethernet interface

Hardware Requirements

The Macintosh computer must meet the following minimum hardware 

requirements.

Microprocessor

Power PC.

Memory

At least 32 MB. 64 MB or more of memory is recommended.

Disk Space

At least 16 MB. 100 MB or more of disk space is recommended.

Configuring Macintosh for Network Printing

To print from your Macintosh over an Ethernet network, you must first 

configure your printer. Make sure the printer is connected to the network 

and turned on, and then set up the configuration as follows:
1. Set an IP address in the printer. See “Appendix C Control Panel Menu 

Functions” on page 119.

2. From your Web browser, go to the IP Address that is set in your 

printer to access the internal configuration Web page.

3. In the Network Print Server window, click the 

Configuration

 button.

4. Click 

AppleTalk

5. In the Configuration [AppleTalk] window, set the 

Binary Enabled

 

button to 

NO
